This puts the merchants ledgers sturdily in the "Black". Humanity ceases to be the dominant species on the planet and becomes a herd animal, trampling hapless salespeople in their efforts to get a "good deal". We are the prey of advertisers and merchandisers who convince us we cannot live without a product we had never seen before. Are there other forces that prey on mankind in this most psychologically vulnerable time? Perhaps.
