He is a former chapter President of the Children's Rights Council (CRC) for Orange County and Long Beach, California, and is a former newspaper editor and writer for the Times Mirror Company and Knight-Ridder Publications in California, and for the Daily American in Rome, Italy. He also is a published author of short stories and poems. Since 1998, he has been a divorced dad of two daughters, which has been the most satisfying responsibility of his life. He resides in Huntington Beach, California. His daughters live with him part-time.
