Suddenly an image floated into my mind-that of a rowboat, one with a few holes in it. Basically seaworthy, it just needed some bailing. I envisioned one hole for every aspect of my low self esteem. I realized some people might have three holes; others five or nine or eight. What if, I wondered, I created a prayer with one line for every hole in my boat? Then, I surmised, I could say that prayer any time I hit the rough waters of my low self esteem.
Author Biography
Bella Erakko comes from a technology-rich background, having designed information systems for the White House Executive Office as well as several Fortune 500 companies. While raising two daughters, she worked as a columnist for two newspapers, winning a national award. Throughout her life, she has explored through prayer and meditation our deepest connections to each other and to our Creator. She has published several books, including Silence: Making the Journey to Inner Quiet, and Silent Dwellers: Embracing the Solitary Life.
