Abrams worked for Revson at Revlon and was his confidante. After Revson’s death, Abrams became a writer but when he tried to publish this insider’s view of Charles Revson, both in the board room and his wild womanizing hijinks (or in hindsight, women abusing), the Revlon company tried to stop it and it was deemed too controversial. In the end he was able to sell the manuscript to Manor Books, a small imprint better known for adult content. The stores that carried Manor Books were not that interested in the high stake backroom deals of the world’s laegest cosmetic company so the book got very low distribution.
