The Alaskan Readers FIVE VINTAGE INUIT BOOKS Levels I through Five - 1973

The Alaskan Readers Levels I through Five were published in 1973 by  the Northwest Regional Educational Laboratory in Portland, Oregon.  The Acknowledgement states as follows:  "The Alaskan Reading and Language Development Program was a cooperative effort by the Northwest Regional Educational Laboratory, the Rural Schools Program at the University of Alaska, the Alaska State-Operated School System, the Alaskan State Department of Education, the Bureau of Indian Affairs Juneau Office, and the Alaska Federation of Natives."The books show Native life at the time, in both the stories and line drawings.  Books I through III are soft cover, with stapled-in binding, and contain 43, 33, and 47 pages, respectively.  Books in Levels Four and Five are soft cover, with plastic comb binding, and contain 113 and 143 pages, respectively. Condition of books:Book I has a shiny cover with some edge and general minor wear.  Teacher's name inside front cover. Tape mark at back cover. Pages are intact, no marks or tears, just some general edge wear (minor).Book II has only minor cover wear. Teacher's name inside front cover. Middle of book has clear tape at stapled-in binding (a little rusty). Pages are clean and unmarked.Book III has moderate cover wear, teacher's name written in corner of cover and a couple of small stains on cover. Teacher's name inside cover. Masking tape at front and back inside covers to reinforce two places where stapled; tape mark at back cover. Pages are clean and unmarked with only minor edge wear.Book Four has moderate cover wear, with tape residue to cover and plastic comb in spots.  Teacher's name written inside front cover. Edge wear to pages but no marks or tears except two very small tears to last page and edge of back cover.  Pages unmarked.Book Five is very similar in condition toe Book Four except no tears but fairly small stain on back cover.
