The charts provided for nutrition and vitamin supplements can be referenced in the path back to health from the disease. Lastly, The Alcoholism Handbook provides a step-by-step process to achieve a positive-living lifestyle change for the alcoholic and his or her family. The Alcoholism Handbook is also written for all professionals, the legal profession, medical personnel, law enforcement, judges, social workers, psychologists, treatment centers, counselors, clergy, physicians, and anyone indirectly affected by the consequences of alcohol. It is also written for family members who are directly affected by alcohol's consequences.

Here are some excerpts from A Look Into Alcoholism: People who are addicted do not have a choice. They have to have whatever it is they are addicted to, and will do anything to get it. It is only when they resolve the addiction, that they now for the first time, have a choice whether to do it again. Most people get into addictions in ignorance, not knowing the consequences, or, what an addiction is. As in alcohol-ism, once the ism sets in, there are no more choices, you have to have what you are addicted to, no matter what. Can alcoholism be prevented? The answer is yes, and this book will give you some vitamin combinations and thinking/living protocols that will help prevent alcoholism and/or the cravings. It is more than just a vitamin that will prevent the ism, it is a lifestyle, a way of life, and a pattern of thinking that will not allow the alcoholism to set in. With the use of vitamins and supplements a person has now taken on the thinking of doing good things to themselves. Alcohol is not a problem until somebody drinks it. One primary factor is that it is the personality that causes the addiction. For an addictive personality, alcohol is not a problem until one picks up the glass. Alcohol is one of a few deliberate diseases. In no other disease does the victim deliberately give himself a disease. No one tries to get cancer, a stroke, or Alzheimer''s. But with alcohol, a person may deliberately and unknowingly give themselves a disease. As with alcohol, a person can deliberately destroy themselves? This is why I refer to it as the subtle disease. Treatment consists of healing the mind, the body, and the spirit. Healing the mind is done with nutrition, supplements, eliminating the alcohol from the brain, learning a new and different way to live, and, working a positive living program like alcoholics anonymous. Healing the body is done with nutrition, supplements, and exercise. Treating and healing the mind is foremost, because once the mind has begun healing, the body will follow. Healing the spirit is done with new and different teachings, a new and different way to live and think. A positive living program like alcoholics anonymous or a church will teach a person to incorporate a God or a Higher Power into their thinking and their lifestyle. It is in this area that new tools will be learned as a new way to live. Healing the spirit is an internal choice made by an individual person. Accept the grace of God, without question, and miracles will follow. By accepting grace, you will receive hope, and by receiving hope, you will gain faith. Alcohol probably exceeds cancer in destruction, because alcohol not only affects the individual, it affects families, children, relatives, workplaces, and other people who are killed or injured by drunk drivers. Cancer on one hand only affects the individual, and indirectly the family. Every other disease affects the individual and indirectly the family, except in partial or total disability. Alcohol directly affects the individual and their family. The fact is that alcohol is everywhere. Alcoholism cures are not the same as in cancer or other deadly diseases. Here is the difference; alcoholism is the only known disease from which the individual derives pleasure from it, in no other disease is there any pleasure derived from it. Alcohol on the other hand is consumed because of the pleasure, and not the pain. The pain is secondary in nature to the alcoholic because the pain only comes once in a while. The more years or decades of drinking that take place, the pain will increase at a subtle progressive pace. Below are some testimonials, alcohol-related one-liners, relating to the consequences of drinking alcohol. Many of these one-liners, general in nature, are all true. Alcohol has no limit to its humiliation, dysfunction, guilt, shame, resentments, anger, jail or imprisonment. These are no-name occurrences, the purpose being, to see the patterns and consequences of alcoholism. The consequences of alcoholism may be a DUI, a divorce, liver damage or failure, or as severe as drinking and driving and killing one or more people. In all cases the consequences will happen; they will be in varying degrees of humiliation, financial disaster, physical or mental dysfunction, and family deterioration. Another fact is that all family members are affected by each of the events below. These events below are all caused by alcohol, alcoholism. These events below are normal events in life of an alcoholic; they are all caused by drinking alcohol. Jumping out of a second story building while drinking, the person landed on a pointed metal fence that impaled through their back. Today they live in a wheelchair, and are working the program of A.A. * Killing someone while driving drunk, this person was sentenced to nine years in prison. They left a family behind to fend for themselves, and then there is the family of the person that was killed. * People receiving a DUI are too numerous to mention. Each DUI has an approximate cost of $10,000 or more. All of the information above indicates the incomprehensible demoralization that alcohol produces, and the stories are limitless. All the stories above could have not happened, with a choice to not drink. A simple one-second choice. Drinking is a choice, every second of the day. Not drinking is also a choice, every second of the day. A lifestyle change for an alcoholic means adopting a non-drinking lifestyle, living one day at a time. A lifestyle change means a change in the way one thinks, sometimes 180 degrees. It means doing healthy and good things, and liking yourself. It means getting out of yourself. This next process has to do with living a life that is addiction free, helping others by using the knowledge you have gained, and continuing to live a life for yourself, a healthy good life. A life where you feel good about yourself and the things you do, being proud of what you do and who you are. Being thankful for the gift that you have been given, mentally, physically, and spiritually. You are now addiction free, and now have a choice of whether you do the addiction again. Then there are those five areas in life, and for the first time the alcoholic must learn to spend time in each of the five areas, psychological, physiological, career, family, and spiritual.
